SWAPPLE

Moves left: 35?

Strategies & Hints

Want to become a Swapple pro? Here are some strategies to help you make the most of your moves and solve the puzzle efficiently. Remember, every word in the grid is exactly 5 letters long—both rows and columns!

  • Look for Common Letter Patterns: Identify common letter pairings like "TH," "CH," "SH," or vowels followed by consonants. These combinations frequently appear in 5-letter words and can help guide your swaps.
  • Prioritize Rows or Columns: Focus on completing one row or column at a time rather than switching back and forth. Solving one can often reveal clues for others.
  • Work from the Edges Inward: Solve the outer rows and columns first to create a structure for solving the inner sections.
  • Use Color Feedback Wisely: Pay attention to the feedback:
    • Green: Letter is in the correct position.
    • Yellow: Letter is in the word but in the wrong position.
    • No color: Letter doesn’t belong in the current row or column.
  • Test and Observe: Use early moves to test positions for letters you suspect belong in a word. Feedback will help narrow down possibilities.
  • Plan Two Moves Ahead: Consider how swaps impact both rows and columns. A well-planned move can solve two words at once.
  • Balance Between Rows and Columns: If stuck on a row, switch focus to the intersecting column to gain new insights.
  • Avoid Random Swapping: Random moves waste opportunities to gather meaningful feedback. Always swap with purpose.
  • Practice Daily: Swapple offers a new 5x5 word puzzle every day at midnight. Regular practice will improve your skills!

About Swapple

The Origin of Swapple

Swapple began as a passion project inspired by a challenge I set for myself: to create a Python algorithm capable of solving a 5x5 word grid where each row and column forms a valid word. My initial goal was to design an algorithm that could generate endless unique word grids for puzzles. As the idea grew, I decided to transform it into a playable game.

Originally, I started developing Swapple as an iOS app using Swift, but I quickly realized that a web-based platform would make it more accessible to a larger audience. Over the course of a month, I worked on Swapple in the evenings after work and on weekends, bringing the concept to life. The result is a daily word puzzle that’s both challenging and fun, designed for word game enthusiasts of all levels.
